I grew up to the sound of standards being rehearsed by my father a dance band pianist. My grandmother was a cinema pianist and singer so music is in my DNA. As a child I was extremely musical but shy and detested the spotlight so a performing career was out.

I became a qualified teacher with main subject Music studying singing and piano, intending to teach in Primaries but unexpectedly started work in the senior sector as a music teacher quickly becoming Head of Music in another large co - ed. I collaborated with the Drama dept. and started writing songs putting on original musical shows for 7 years whilst training individuals and choirs and running multi - school festivals.

I have sung in various choirs including, Madrigal Consorts, Sutton Valence Choral Society and The Rochester Singers and a Military Wives choir in Kent. I now of course perform confidently and play the piano and sing as my demos show.

I changed career setting up a private school business concentrating on early years so I can count my singing teaching experience through 30 years across a wide age range recently I set up an am-dram company and taught all the singers of all ages. Having sold my business I have committed the last three years to writing musicals in all aspects.

I have completed two musicals Wildlife and White house and the third, Zeitgeist is near to completion.

I have written more than 60 songs for these and other projects since 2009 and have entered 35 achieving 15 semi - finalist positions in the last 3 UK SONG WRITING CONTESTS.

I have always loved singing and attended musicals with my family in the West End for years when treats were possible. I find the composing of and singing of songs in a theatrical context an enthralling art form and believe I have a natural rapport and ability to write music and lyrics and the original books. I can write lyrics to anything, my work or others. Few realise or appreciate the complex musical, literary and dramatic black arts which together are needed to produce the right song in the right place let alone a great one. I know I can express any emotion in words and music to order. I write with an individual, accessible new style informed by listening to a great variety of different types of music but particularly songs from musicals. Whilst bringing great experience in how songs are enjoyed and received as well as the many technical aspects which have to be considered. I also have rounded interests and broad general knowledge and appreciation of what makes the world go round.

I know what people will like, what’s needed where and how to do it. I am told my songs are very strong, catchy and of a fresh style and that my lyric writing is exceptionally sharp and different. People who I associate with ( voluntarily!) want to sing them and go about involuntarily humming them…
